Teacher Profiles: Mrs. Casavant

EWG has gotten an addition to our staff this new school year. Mrs. Casavant has joined our school nurses in the Jr./Sr. High.  You see her when you come into the nurses’ office, but who is our new addition?

Mrs. Casavant grew up in Westport, Massachusetts and she describes it as “a very small cow town.” Her hobbies outside of work are running, which she describes as her main stress relief, camping, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. She has two kids and a husband, who as a family participate in the outdoor adventures. As a kid, she wanted to become a writer, but she chose nursing instead because of her desire to help people and do good.

She has only worked as a school nurse for two years, and before that, she worked in the ICU and critical care sections of hospitals. Her switch to becoming a school nurse has been quite a change, and Mrs. Casavant says it is definitely a “different vibe.” Before joining EWG, she worked at a Coventry elementary school and her decision to move here was backed up by her knowledge of our town.

“I like how everyone is close-knit… everyone is there for each other, very supportive, very kind”

Years ago, she and her family lived in EWG, and until her daughter was in third grade, Mrs. Casavant got to have the outside perspective of EWG. Seeing the job open up, and knowing about EWG’s tight-knit community and our good administration, the decision to apply was an easy one.

“It’s definitely been a good change,” she said. “I like how everyone is close knit…Everyone is there for each other, very supportive, very kind.”

We are so excited to have Mrs. Casavant become a part of our EWG community!
