EWG Student Earns Multiple Engineering Certifications

Senior Nick Angell has received two certifications for mechanical design software throughout his high school career.  Through the 3D Design class at EWG, he was given the opportunity to gain experience working with this software and then to take these exams to earn the certifications.

The goal of the 3D design class at EWG is to familiarize yourself with the mechanical design software SolidWorks, and then to earn these certifications. The exam consists of 3 different parts. They need to build a model of a drawing given to them from the ground up, take a pre-built part and make modifications to it, and assemble separate parts all together using the software.

In his freshman year, he took the first exam for the certification. Coming into the class with no experience with this software, he was able to earn the certification after only three months. One month after that, he became the third high school student ever to earn a certificate in the SolidWorks add-on, the DriveWorks Express Associate certificate.

“It was good to finally get it and get the weight off my shoulders and know that I did it”

Nick Angell

In his final year of high school, he earned the professional-level certification that professional engineers have. After failing in his first tries at the exam, he never gave up and was able to pass the exam and earn his certification. Congratulations to Nick Angell on this huge accomplishment.
