Auditorium Construction Underway

“Dramatic.” This is just one word used to describe the many changes happening to the Jr/Sr High Auditorium. Continue reading to find out unique insights and information about this renovation.

Over the past couple years, EWG has been making several improvements to the district through the School Improvement Bond. One of the most recent of these improvements is the renovation of the Jr/Sr High auditorium. The past auditorium had been a part of the school since its opening, and, while it was a part of EWG’s history, it was in desperate need of an upgrade due to its age. These renovations are said to cover everything from new seating, to renovated stage features, to better accessibility. At the beginning of this school year, the renovations began, and are planned to conclude this summer.

“Even the lighting is going to be different, the sound system is new, the stage is being refurbished, everything [will be] like a new auditorium.”

Steve Bailey, Head of Maintenance

Members of the Mercury team recently went out and interviewed various individuals to find out their thoughts on the renovations. In general, the team’s research brought about mostly positive, but slightly mixed thoughts. Aiden Malone, one Sr. High student, commented that he thought the renovations weren’t necessary, but at the same time commented, “but I guess it’s cool that it is [getting renovated].” Clearly, from his statement, he was pretty impartial towards the changes to the auditorium. Contrastingly, Steve Bailey, the head of maintenance here at EWG, said that he thought the ramifications of the renovations were “Dramatic. I mean, even the lighting is going to be different, the sound system is new, the stage is being refurbished, everything [will be] like a new auditorium.”

As seen through these statements, the general opinions are positive, but not overly anticipating. But, one thing is for certain, EWG will be happy to have its auditorium back in function. To learn more about the renovations, and hear the full interviews, watch the Mercury video report here:
